Project summary:

The Genesis Project seeks to improve traffic flow by reducing highway congestion. This will be accomplished by providing travelers with timely information allowing them to time their trips and select their routes or transportation modes to avoid areas congested due to planned events, weather or traffic incidents. The Human Factors Research Laboratory will aid this Project by evaluating traffic message format suitability and by providing a literature review and synthesis of human factors relating to the use of devices such as cellular phones, pagers, car radios, cigarettes, etc. while driving a vehicle. The results of our analysis will be documented and submitted first as a Draft Final Report and then after incorporating suggestions MNDOT a Final Report.
