CTS reports to the Office of the Vice President for Research. This positioning allows CTS to take a comprehensive perspective and be a focal point for all things related to transportation research and education at the U of M.
CTS works with Faculty and Research Scholars and affiliated researchers in more than 35 academic departments to carry out sponsored research projects. Approximately two-thirds of the CTS budget is directed to academic departments for this work.
The Executive Committee has primary responsibility for providing strategic direction and overseeing implementation of programs. It governs CTS operations, consistent with University of Minnesota policies, based on input from the Board of Advisors, CTS Councils, and CTS staff.
The Board of Advisors provides broad-based leadership support.
Councils provide a forum for transportation professionals and researchers to exchange information on current transportation issues and trends.
