Project summary:
Current Minnesota public discourse is focused on managed growth issues within the ever sprawling Twin City Metropolitan Area. Underutilized lands in the central area and on designated intensive development corridors represent an opportunity to create a powerful urban structure for the metro area that strategically uses resources to concentrate development, to slow urban sprawl, to create new and revitalized neighborhoods, and to generate jobs that can be effectively served by transit. Using old industrial land in an historic transportation corridor as a case study, this project seeks to develop a prototypical urban design framework and a variety of design solutions for the post industrial metro area.
