Project summary:
Our primary objective is to determine the magnitude and nature of personal travel to Minnesota from other US states, as well as travel outside the state by Minnesota residents. This study will investigate travel variations by travel mode, season, place (original for travelers to Minnesota, destination for Minnesotans) and demographics of the traveler. Our basic source of information is TravelScope, but results will be compared to the newly released American Travel Survey (ATS). We will investigate the potential for expanded summer travel to Minnesota from sunbelt states. We will work closely with the Minnesota Office of Tourism, which will supply most of the computer runs.
