Project summary:
On August 10, 2005, President Bush signed into law the new surface transportation legislation, SAFETEA-LU. This legislation established the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission. This commission was established to develop congressional recommendations for a future national transportation policy. The commission has been holding field hearings around the country to gather input for its recommendations. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) and the Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) submitted a proposal to the US Department of Transportation to host the hearing. Minnesota was selected as a host site through a competitive process. The hearing will be held in Minnesota on April 18-19. Mn/DOT is contracting with CTS to host and deliver the two-day field hearing.
