Project summary:
Laboratory loading/unloading compaction tests, and long-term creep tests, will be conducted on assemblies of shredded tire pieces. These will allow for evaluating their deformability characteristics such as the compression and swell indices, Young's Modulus and Poisson's ratio. Anisotropy due to flattened shape of shredded tire pieces will be investigated. Computer program CIRCLY will be used to determine the influence of material anisotropy on settlements of pavement systems containing shredded tires lightweight fill.
