Project summary:
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) has completed its Cost Estimation/Cost Management (CE/CM) Process Improvement and Organizational Integration Project. This effort resulted in a new process for estimating Mn/DOT infrastructure project costs, along with a new Project Scope and Cost Management Office. Mn/DOT also has improved its process of scoping, or more completely describing, the project and its impacts. The project scope defines the project need and what is and isn't included in the project. Mn/DOT is now beginning to implement these changes. As part of this transition support effort, CTS will assist Mn/DOT in developing measures for tracking the results of these changes and evaluating progress. Work will continue on other areas as well, including establishing a staffing structure for the new Project Scope and Cost Management Office, developing systems to track all the project costs, and assessing how to integrate the new systems with existing systems. In addition, communications to internal audiences will be supported and communication efforts directed toward external audiences will be increased.
