Project summary:
In December 2006, a University of Minnesota student completed a centerline rumble strip evaluation project and report for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. This study updated the evaluation by focusing on documenting a more complete literature review on the subject, as well as supplementing crash data that was summarized in the 2006 research. This project also included a small survey of the use, installation, and maintenance policies and practices of "northern-state" DOTs that are using centerline rumbles strips. The findings of this project were used by Mn/DOT in its analysis of centerline rumble strip policies for Minnesota.
