Dr. Ingrid E. Schneider’s research focuses on consumer behavior and perceptions as they relate to travel, particularly in nature-based settings and destinations. Diversity, stress, and conflict are major areas of inquiry, founded in a social-psychological perspective. Her research informs management, planning, and policy decisions for local, state, and federal organizations and destinations. Schneider also works on a variety of applied consumer research projectsincluding transportation-related projectsto support and sustain Minnesota's tourism industry.

Prior to coming to the University of Minnesota, Schneider was an associate professor at Arizona State University. Professional experience includes positions with the Bureau of Land Management, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and Sonifi (previously LodgeNet Inc.). She is an elected fellow in the Academy of Leisure Sciences & American Academy of Parks & Recreation. Schneider earned a BS in technical communications and a MS in forestry from the University of Minnesota, and her PhD from Clemson University.
