David Kittelson has worked for more than 45 years on improving performance and reducing emissions from engines. His current research interests include sampling and characterization of ultrafine and nanoparticles from engines (both ground-based and aircraft), reducing fuel use and greenhouse emissions from transportation, development of advanced engine exhaust aftertreatment systems, and measurement of vehicle emissions using mobile platforms.
Kittelson earned his undergraduate and MS degrees from the University of Minnesota prior to receiving a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge, England in 1972.
He is a fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers.
