CTS Webinar: Friction, Safety, and Durability of Pavement Markings
About the Event
New products for pavement markings and colored pavement that provide additional friction have become available and show evidence of being durable. This webinar highlighted U of M research that investigated the friction differential between these new products and the surrounding pavement. The project involved performing skid resistance testing on a number of products, using different testing devices, and providing guidelines for evaluating the frictional characteristics of pavement markings and colored pavements.
Transportation practitioners shared their perspectives on the research, including how the findings may be used by MnDOT and local agencies.
The webinar was held in conjunction with a CTS Transportation Infrastructure Research Council meeting.
