About the Symposium

The annual Freight and Logistics Symposium is designed to bring together the private sector and government to discuss current issues in the freight and logistics industry and to hear about public and private initiatives to strengthen our freight transportation system.

The 2023 symposium will focus on the future of zero-emission freight vehicles and the related policy, operations, and logistics implications. A keynote presentation from José Samperio, vice president and general manager of North America on-highway at Cummins, will explore the many paths to zero emissions. Samperio will discuss why, with numerous applications and technologies at play, decarbonization in commercial vehicles is not a “one path fits all” journey.

Additional presentations will outline the potential use of hydrogen for freight in Minnesota, including technology readiness and policy options, and the development of a fuel cell engine that could be used in heavy-duty and long-haul vehicles. The symposium will also feature two panels of local and national industry leaders and researchers discussing the future of zero-emission technology.
