2021 CTS Transportation Research Conference

About the Event
Using a virtual platform, the 2021 conference convened researchers and practitioners to explore the latest innovations in transportation research, implementation efforts, and engagement activities.
Highlights included:
- An opening keynote by Jonathan Foley, executive director of Project Drawdown, titled "Achieving Drawdown: A Hopeful, Science-Based Plan to Stop Climate Change." In the presentation, Foley discuss Project Drawdown's comprehensive framework for addressing climate change, including the transportation industry's role in pivoting to a better, more sustainable world.
- A panel discussion following Foley's presentation focused on the intersection of transportation, sustainability, and climate change. Panelists included Elise Harrington, assistant professor in the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and Ashwat Narayanan, executive director of Our Streets Minneapolis.
- Afternoon keynote remarks by Andrew Wishnia, deputy assistant secretary for climate policy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy at the US Department of Transportation, and MnDOT commissioner Margaret Anderson Kelliher.
- A variety of concurrent sessions on topics including health and equity in transportation, lessons learned from COVID-19, CAVs, safety, electrification, shared mobility, transit impacts, and more.

Credit
Conference attendees are eligible for up to 6.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) and 6.5 American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) maintenance credits.
